Emergency preparedness and response
The Swedish emergency preparedness system consists of a network of national government authorities, county administrative boards and municipal authorities that have different areas of responsibility and roles. In the event of a radiological emergency situation, relevant stakeholders liaise to in the best way protect human health and the environment against negative consequences of radiation.
The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority is tasked with coordinating the emergency preparedness measures necessary for preventing, identifying and detecting nuclear and radiological incidents that can cause damage to human health and the environment. The Authority maintains round the clock emergency preparedness.
